About the Ride - Our Purpose

The Memorial Ride was started in 2014 to celebrate the lives of Kyle and Kody after their tragic loss due to a horrific accident.

Two seperate scholarships have been set up in their names.  One scholarship helps a chosen student at Eastern Kentucky University where Kyle graduated; the other goes to a chosen student, graduating from SWHS, who plans to attend Somerset Community College where Kody was a student.

All of the proceeds from the ride are equally split between the two scholarships.  So far, the scholarships have been awarded to six different students.  It is our hope to carry on these scholarships for many years to come.

The Ride

We have decided to change our starting point with the 3rd Annual Ride in 2016.  We will start and end the ride at Man O'War Harley Davidson in Lexington, Kentucky.

We will ride the backroads to Eastern Kentucky University campus where we have a chance for a short break for refreshments and a visit to the EKU Economics Department where Kyle graduated.  We are grateful to the EKU Economics professors who have been kind enough to be our hosts for this part of the trip every year.

When we leave Richmond we travel some beautiful backroads through horse country on our way back.  Once in Lexington, we return to Man O'War Harley Davidson for a BBQ lunch.  While there we will draw for prizes and have the chance to listen to some music provided by the folks at Man O'War Harley Davidson.

The ride is open to both bikes and cars with bikes leading the ride.  Cars are asked to line the road in front of Man O'War Harley with room between vehicles for people to view any customs that attend. We plan to have the ride escorted through the cities for safety.
